Today I am sharing one of my favorite projects of all time – these gorgeous DIY Valentine’s Day candles. They are fairly easy to make and a great gift idea for your friends, family members, or yourself ;). I’ve made a few different versions of these beautiful candles over the years and always get several questions about them. I thought I’d to put together step-by-step directions for anyone interested in trying out this fun and pretty project.
What You’ll Need
You can click on the image below to shop all the supplies I used.
- Small glass jars
- Candle-making kit (wax, wicks, pouring pot, etc.)
- Small pot for heating water
- Gel food coloring
- Rhinestone trim
- Ribbon
- Brooches
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
Starting out
I started by warming up a small pot about half-full with water (heat on medium). Next, I filled the candle pot/pitcher full with wax and placed it in the pot of warm water. The wax will slowly start to melt. As the wax melted, I added more to ensure I had enough to make two candles. Continue to stir until it’s all liquified.
Once the wax was completely melted, I added pink gel food coloring and continued to stir until it was completely blended. The heat can then be turned off.
Next Steps
The candle-making kit includes little double-sided stickers to help hold the candle wicks on the bottom center of your jars. Once the wicks are secure, the wax can then be poured and the wicks can be trimmed.
Next is the fun part! I decorated the lids and once the candle wax had solidified, I added ribbon and a brooch to one of the jars (see images below). There are so many ways to be creative here!
Enjoy!
Finally, your candles are ready to gift or enjoy for yourself! Pretty easy for such a cute DIY, right? I displayed mine on our coffee table, and decided to place a jeweled crown around one of the candles. They’d look great just about anywhere (bathroom, kitchen, etc.).
Hope you love these gorgeous DIY Valentine’s Day candles as much as I do! If you end up trying this out, please share with me on IG! I love to see what you create!
